Beijing Olympics 2008 and its cost

I was reading the Sports reference blog and one thing that immediately caught my attention was the cost associated with 2008 Olympic games which is four times as must as the previous Olympic games held in 2004 in Athens . Previous Olympic games were the most expensive ones in the history of such games but this time China indeed has beaten the previous mark with a BIG BANG , when they put forward a spectacular show in opening ceremony of Beijing 2008 Olympics . I enjoyed every piece of it and I had no doubts left that this indeed was the best ever Olympics Opening ceremony .

Following is a really nice slide show which only shows a glimpse of how the opening ceremony was put together to give start to something which turned out to be the most expensive event of its kind .

This show was indeed the best in the history of Olympics . Only this Opening Ceremony cost was $300 million which made the overall cost for 2008 Olympics to something around $40 billion . With almost 10,700 athletes participating , this makes it almost $28,000 estimated budget per athlete and that is only for the opening ceremony .

The surprising thing is yet to hit you guys . See a little comparison below :

With almost the same number of participating Nations the difference in the cost of these two Olympic games is yet to be justified . But who cares ??

Five fish in 20 mins

The fishing trip didn’t went the way it was expected . I never caught fish that early but yesterday was my lucky day as all the not so big fish are attracted to my fishing spot . The longest one was 6 inch from mouth to tail .

The technique I use for fishing is angling ( fishing line ) as this is the cheapest and easiest one to catch fish . Other techniques include hand fishing , spearing / bow fishing , netting , trapping , dredging etc .

Rabbits eating time out !

Today I took my grandfather to a dermatologist where I spotted these red eyed rabbits . These are called Albino rabbits somewhat shy but most of the time will show up when they smell food near by. And that is exactly what they did when a lady brought with her some bread pieces along with a mixture of few vegetables . They attacked the food like there is no one around and then I did what was required because I never miss such an opportunity . I shot them (of course with my mobile cam what were you thinking) and you can see they are enjoying their sweet crispy and nutritious brunch !

After they had enough they decided to take a shadow bath .

I decided to leave the couple alone so that they can have some rest because it was time to leave the clinic.

Today I heard a strange voice coming from my room . After searching I found a small lady bird baby . It came from the window . The ladybird must have a nest somewhere near by my window . I tried to make it fly out through the window but soon I realized that it was very little and not mature enough to fly on its own . So I put it in a shoe box with some food and water so that will not starve to death .

Next I searched the internet to find more information about this bird , particularly about its feed . I got this from Wikipedia :

Hummingbirds are birds of the family Trochilidae, and are native only to the Americas. They are known for their ability to hover in mid-air by rapidly flapping their wings 15–80 times per second (depending on the species). Capable of sustained hovering, hummingbirds also have the ability to fly backward, being the only group of birds able to do so. Hummingbirds may also fly vertically and laterally. Their English name derives from the characteristic hum made by their wings.

Not surprisingly these birds also feed on insects specially spiders.

UPDATE : This cute little baby has been named as Ryan

Today my younger cousin came to me and informed me that his elder brother (my elder cousin) officially became the father of this very cute baby boy. I visited the couple and congratulated them for receiving this beautiful gift from nature . God bless them both and wish them good luck in future endeavor .

Youtube access restored in Pakistan

Pakistan telecommunication authority has lifted the ban on one of the most popular video-sharing sites youtube.The owner of youtube , Google also has confirmed that the access has been restored by Pakistan.

The ban was imposed when Pakistan government ordered more than 70 ISPs to block access to youtube site.The reason for this action by the Pakistani government is considered to be an upcoming trailer of a movie by Dutch laymaker Greet Wilders.It is known that the movie portrays Islam in a manner that will surly have outraged the Muslim world.

The ban was only meant for Pakistan but unfortunately it extended to more than one third population of the world.As a result , many can not access the site for about two hours.

Pakistani officials said that this was a mistake by one of their telecom engineer and it was unintentional.The other countries that also restricted access to youtube include Turkey ,Thailand and Morocco.

People in UK might face a ban for downloading pirated stuff

People in UK might face a ban by their internet service provider for downloading pirated music and movies from the internet . The entertainment industry which includes the music as well as film making industry says that they loose millions of $ just because of these illegal file sharing programs on the internet.

According to a rough estimate , as high as six million UK internet users download pirated stuff from the internet each year.The government is forcing the UK internet service providers to strictly monitor its users for such suspicious activities.Service providers that fail to enforce such rules might be prosecuted and the government is also demanding the details for those customers that are suspected of making illegal downloads so that the details can be made available to the courts.

Many leading service providers and told the entertainment industry that it is not possible to inspect every single packet that is transfered across their network.Service providers also fear that data protection laws would prevent them from looking at the data that floats through their network.

So is this the end for free music and movies for people in UK ?
