Firefox freezes and tabs auto reload....

Mozilla Firefox is the most downloaded and widely used web browser these days . With the ability to install third party add-ons and various plugins , it attracts many internet users specially webmasters and developers .

Firefox Tabs Auto Reload Problem and its Solution
I have been using Firefox for the past one year and it worked fine for me until I upgraded to the latest version . At first I was facing problem when I loaded multiple tabs and clicked on a tab that was already loading .That caused that tab / page to load again and thus taking lot of memory and bandwidth . I some how figured a way to deal with this . I had recently installed Skype which automatically installs a Firefox add-on and this was the culprit behind the auto reload problem . I uninstalled the add-on and this problem was solved without much hassle .

Firefox Browser Freezing Problem and its Solution
Then there was another problem . Whenever I opened Firefox browser , after few seconds it freezes and slows down the PC by consuming lot of system resources . I uninstalled Firefox and then re-installed it but this didn't removed the problem . It took me some time to figure out a way to deal with this freezing issue . The solution behind this was creating a new Firefox user profile . By creating a new user profile for your Firefox browser , you will loose all your bookmarks , add-ons , extensions and plugins . But you need not to worry because you can easily import Firefox bookmarks and other user settings . Don't worry about other stuff as they can be downloaded within few minutes .

1. Exit your Firefox browser and uninstall it from your PC
2. Delete this folder : C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
3. Now restart your PC
4. Download a fresh copy of Firefox from here : http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/
5. Install Firefox and then create a new profile . There are two ways you can do this. One is to follow the official instruction for creating new Firefox user profile here : http://kb.mozillazine.org/Creating_a_new_Firefox_profile_on_Windows or you can continue reading below .
6. Open Start Menu > Run and type firefox -P . This will open Firefox user profile dialog box which currently has default profile selected . Click on the Create Profile button and enter your name for the new profile you want to create . You are done ! Now select your new profile name and then check the box "Don't ask at start up" . Now click Start Firefox .

MP3 Cube Player

This is the smallest mp3 player I have seen so far . If you know any other which is smaller than 24mm x 24mm x 24mm then do let me know . I has a build in memory if 1 GB and it also support audio files in wma format . Other than just an audio player , it also support FM radio and voice recording up to 8 hours .

As far as the shape is concerned I still have doubts it will turn out to be a handy player as it will not be comfortable in pockets due to its cube like shape . The lady in the above photos have put the player in the best places but what about the earphone ?? If it is just for a show piece then it is fine .

Beijing Olympics 2008 and its cost

I was reading the Sports reference blog and one thing that immediately caught my attention was the cost associated with 2008 Olympic games which is four times as must as the previous Olympic games held in 2004 in Athens . Previous Olympic games were the most expensive ones in the history of such games but this time China indeed has beaten the previous mark with a BIG BANG , when they put forward a spectacular show in opening ceremony of Beijing 2008 Olympics . I enjoyed every piece of it and I had no doubts left that this indeed was the best ever Olympics Opening ceremony .

Following is a really nice slide show which only shows a glimpse of how the opening ceremony was put together to give start to something which turned out to be the most expensive event of its kind .





This show was indeed the best in the history of Olympics . Only this Opening Ceremony cost was $300 million which made the overall cost for 2008 Olympics to something around $40 billion . With almost 10,700 athletes participating , this makes it almost $28,000 estimated budget per athlete and that is only for the opening ceremony .

The surprising thing is yet to hit you guys . See a little comparison below :

One word Domain names availibility

Finding single word domain names for your website these days have become almost impossible . This is due to the fact that when anyone registers for a new domain (s)he starts searching with one word domain names . The other reason behind this is the existing volume in certain niches due to which some webmasters order many possible domain names in bulk and then park those domain in advance so that whenever one of their clients ask for a relevant domain , they can offer them at a very demanding price . This is one of the major reasons which has depleted most of the "one word domain names" .

I experienced this when I was searching for a new domain for one of my blogs related to food . I wanted a single word domain but due to the same reason (unavailability) ,ended up with a two word domain . The blog was solely based on cooking recipes and tips so the domain name has to be somewhat relevant . I use following guidelines when registering a new domain :

My Domain name Guidelines :

- Contains only alphabets
- Does not contain two same consecutive letters like www.myyard.com
- Easy to remember and if heard can be typed in easily to reach your website
- Not very descriptive ( example www.myspacetourpresentation.com )
- Is somewhat relevant to the content and theme of your website

For example the domain name which I have chosen for my food blog , which I have mentioned earlier in this post , is www.recipedose.com . I was looking for something more attractive but ended purchasing this domain . Since the blog mostly contains cooking recipes , so the word recipe in the domain can give me an added advantage when searched through SEs .

BlogUpp now offers Custom Look and Traffic Stats

Now BlogUpp offers more customized widgets to fit in nicely almost anywhere in your blog . This is something which BlogRush failed to do . Initially BU was only offering widget number one which took a lot of space and many bloggers didn't felt comfortable for alloting so much space to a service that was still very new . Now they can place the same BlogUpp widget with half the dimensions , thus allowing them to utilize that free blog sidebar space for something else .

Not only they are offering different style widgets , but they now also offer traffic stats for blogs . You only require an Open ID to view your blog stats . The traffic stats will show you how many visitors of your site used your widget to visit other blogs and how many people visited your blog via BlogUpp widgets placed on other blogs .

The traffic from BU network is still not very encouraging and I am afraid that in near future BlogUpp will loose lots of high traffic blogs from their network unless they offer something highly attractive .

How to check Page Rank of internel pages...

After the recent Google PR update , I was thinking whether my internal pages have been ranked by Google or not . Then I stared viewing them one by one ( I only use Google toolbar to view page rank ) . After viewing few of the pages I stopped and said to myself " What the heck am I doing ? " , this is going to take ages to find page rank of all the pages of this blog . There has to be a better way of finding out the Page Rank of all the internal pages . Then I did some research and in the end came up with the following two methods that will give be pageranks of my internal pages as well as home page.


Method 1 : Using Firefox Browser and SeoQuake Plug-in

Open your web browser (Firefox is required) and in Google search type this command :

site:www.sitename.com

What this command in Google does is that it displays all the indexed pages of the site (www.sitename.com) just like the way it displays search results . But this is not the magic ingredient. A FireFox plug-in called SeoQuake displays the page rank of every page in this result . This is the easiest way of viewing page rank of all the internal pages of a site indexed in Google. So get this plug-in as it has a lot more to offer than just PR info.


Method 2 : Use A Free Online Internal PR Checker Tool

The other method is even better than this one . You do not require any specific browser or any additional plug-in. This method requires using a free service provided by LivePR, to check the page rank of all the internal pages. The results are displayed on a single page and this tool also provides an option to sort the pages in the order of increasing or decreasing PageRank . This is by any means the best online tool available for checking internal PR of any site. The only drawback with this tool is that you can use it to find the internal PR of only one web site per hour .

So it is up to you which method you use. I will first start with the LivePR checker tool then use the SeoQuake manual method.

Even Google prepared for 2008 Olympics

This is the official logo for 2008 Olympics which you can see on main page of Google from where people do all sorts of searching . Google has many logos which they display at their home page throughout the year on various occasions which include but not limited to holidays, birthdays of famous personalities , major events and yes for Olympics too .

It is not necessary that you will see the same set of logos the next year but many of those logos remain the same which includes the official Google logo .

How bloggers get 1000s of susbscribers : REVEALED

Joop from TheNextWeb posted on his blog how many bloggers use hacks to increase their subscribers count to few thousands and these hacks still exist for those blogs whose feeds are syndicated via FeedBurner .

The problem which exists is that FeedBurner still has not taken any measures to fix this bug and stop people from exploiting this loophole . Lets hope they get it fixed because then everyone will be using this hack to get thousands of RSS subscribers which will urge the advertisers to stop considering the Feed count before any purchase . Sponsored and paid postings will also suffer from this .

Five fish in 20 mins

The fishing trip didn't went the way it was expected . I never caught fish that early but yesterday was my lucky day as all the not so big fish are attracted to my fishing spot . The longest one was 6 inch from mouth to tail .

The technique I use for fishing is angling ( fishing line ) as this is the cheapest and easiest one to catch fish . Other techniques include hand fishing , spearing / bow fishing , netting , trapping , dredging etc .
